Who you book with, what’s included, cancellation rules, special requests and how to avoid scams when booking Recanto Cataratas.
When booking a resort, most people search an online travel agency (OTA) such as Booking.com and book right there. That works, but travelers don’t always know what changes when they book directly on the hotel’s official website. This article explains, without getting into prices, the practical differences at Recanto Cataratas in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil: who you’re booking with, what’s included, which rules apply and how to book safely.
Who you’re booking with
On the official website, you book through the resort’s own booking engine at reservas.recantocataratasresort.com.br, and your contract is directly with Recanto Cataratas Hotel e Convention Ltda. With an OTA, the agency is an intermediary: the purchase follows that site’s rules and customer service, and rates and terms may differ from the direct channel.
One rule applies either way. Under Ordinance No. 28 of Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism (September 16, 2025), both the hotel and any intermediary that sold the stay must tell guests the check-in and check-out times and the estimated room cleaning time.
What a direct booking includes
Packages on the official website spell out what’s included:
- breakfast;
- free Wi-Fi and parking;
- kids’ recreation with a dedicated team;
- a welcome drink;
- a free stay for 2 children up to age 10, within the room’s occupancy;
- up to 10 interest-free credit card installments, minimum R$ 250 each, subject to card issuer approval.
Rates are in Brazilian reais (R$). Some campaigns also accept PIX, Brazil’s instant bank transfer system. Dates such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Carnival have their own packages, with the program described on each page.
Rate rules: read before you pay
Whatever the channel, the rate you choose determines what happens if plans change. At Recanto Cataratas:
- promotional campaign rates are non-refundable and don’t allow date changes;
- campaign discounts can’t be combined;
- other rates follow the cancellation policy shown for the selected rate;
- the 10% service charge is optional and goes to the staff.
Before confirming, double-check dates, number of guests and children’s ages. Those details determine the kids’ policy and the right room type.
Special requests and changes
When you book direct, the resort’s own team records your requests. A few examples of what can and can’t be guaranteed:
- View: guaranteed only when it’s part of the room category, such as the Suíte Master Vista Piscina (pool view) or Suíte Master Vista Bosque (woods view).
- Rooms together: the resort has no connecting rooms, but it notes requests for rooms next to each other, based on availability.
- Floor and other requests: noted on the booking and granted based on availability.
With an OTA, these requests go through the intermediary first, which then passes them on to the hotel.
How to book safely
Fake profiles and websites use well-known hotel names to collect payment for bookings that don’t exist. To stay safe:
- book on the official website, through our reservations line at +55 45 2102-3000 or through channels authorized by the resort;
- remember that Recanto Cataratas never asks for passwords or for payment to third parties;
- before sending a transfer, check that the recipient is Recanto Cataratas Hotel e Convention Ltda, Brazilian company ID (CNPJ) 32.253.887/0001-16;
- if in doubt, confirm the offer with our team on WhatsApp before paying.
